KABALE,
The territorial police of Kabale registered a fatal accident that claimed the life of an unidentified male adult.
The incident occurred in the early hours of November 3, 2023, around 30:00 hrs at the Kyobugombe trading center in Kaharo sub-county along the Kabale-Mbarara highway.
The accident involved a trailer with registration number RAE128E/RL3057 and a motorcycle with registration number UEE 967E, which was being ridden by the now-deceased unidentified individual.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that according to eyewitnesses and initial reports, the motorcyclist was traveling from Kabale, heading towards Muhanga. Tragedy struck when he reached Kyobugombe and collided with a stationary vehicle that had been experiencing mechanical problems since the previous day at midday.
Upon receiving the distress call, the scene of the accident was swiftly visited by Asp. Mucunguzi, the officer in charge of traffic in Kabale, and his team. The lifeless body of the unidentified victim was subsequently taken to Kabale Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Maate says that the motorcycle involved in the collision has been secured and is currently parked at Kabale Central Police Station pending further investigation. The stationary vehicle, however, was left at the scene with its number plates removed. Additionally, the driver’s license and other identifying documentation have been confiscated by the authorities.
In an effort to bring closure to this tragic incident, the police are appealing to the public for assistance. They are seeking any information that could help identify the rider of the motorcycle in order to make proper arrangements for his burial.
