Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the incident took place on March 11, 2023, at about 19:30 a.m. at Harutenga along Kabale Kisoro Road in Rubanda district.

Maate says that the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number UAX 473M Toyota Apremio, white in color, driven by Rwigyema Fred. The motorcyclist fell into the trench and sustained severe head injuries. He was rushed to Hamurwa Health Center IV by a good samaritan and later transferred to Rugarama Hospital in Kabale township, where he was pronounced dead at around 23:00 hrs.
