Kabale, Uganda – December 24, 2023

In a heartfelt message delivered at Nyangoyi Church of Uganda, the State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Honorable David Bahati, called upon Ugandans to embrace the spirit of peace during the festive season. The minister, addressing Christians at the Kasheregyenyi Parish in Kamuganguzi Sub County, Ndorwa West, Kabale District, stressed the importance of prioritizing harmony in both personal and communal relationships.

Christmas, Minister Bahati reminded the congregation, is a day dedicated to reflecting on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. He urged Christians to celebrate the day with joy and unity among family members. In his address, Minister Bahati advised the faithful to utilize the festive season as an opportunity for cultivating self-peace, fostering a closer relationship with God, and maintaining harmonious connections with friends and neighbors. He emphasized the paramount importance of avoiding conflicts during this sacred time.

Peace is the essence of this season, and as we rejoice in the birth of Christ, let us also cultivate peace within ourselves and extend it to those around us.”

The call for positive action resonated throughout the service, as Reverend Just Ayebare, the Diocese of Kigezi treasurer, added his voice to the message. Rev Ayebare encouraged Christians to actively contribute to poverty alleviation by engaging in hard work and focusing on the cultivation of perennial crops.

Rev Ayebare stressed the significance of growing crops that yield consistently, providing sustenance and a source of income to enhance the overall well-being of households. He urged the congregation to take measures to protect their soils from erosion and adopt sustainable farming methods that would maintain fertility, ensuring bountiful harvests and improved livelihoods.

The joint appeal from Minister Bahati and Rev Ayebare serves as a reminder that the festive season is not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity for personal growth, community unity, and positive action. As Ugandans come together to celebrate Christmas, the call for peace and prosperity remains at the forefront of the messages shared by community leaders.
