Construction of Katuna-Muko road to commence in August

The State Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, has revealed that the construction of Katuna-Muko Road will commence in August this year.

The 65.5km road connects Katuna and Ryakarimira Town Council Rubaya and Butanda Sub Counties in Kabale District to Muko and Bufundi Sub Counties in Rubanda District.

Speaking on Monday as a guest of honor during the memorial and Thanksgiving of businessman Didas Kanyesigye’s late parents, Mzee Eldard John Zebicire and Mrs. Joy Zebicire, which was held at St. Paul’s Kacerere Archdeaconry Church of Uganda in the Diocese of Kigezi in Rubanda District,

Hon. Bahati revealed that the Uganda Roads Authority (URA) is done with a feasibility study and compassion for those who will be affected by the works, which will begin in July this year.

He said that the construction of the road was delayed due to procurement procedures.

Min Bahati also asked residents to utilize natural resources in their area, like tourism and iron ore, among others, to develop themselves.

Preaching during the service, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, asked Christians to be faithful to God and to set good legacies for future generations to emulate.

The event was attended by the state minister for finance general duties, Mr. Henry Musasizi, the commissioner of Parliament, Hon. Prossy Akampurira, Hon. Moses Kamuntu, leaders from different parts of Western Uganda, and a number of Canons from different archdioceses among the dignitaries attending the event.
