The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, has highlighted the importance of using positive words when dealing with children, emphasizing the role it plays in their development and discipline.

Hon. Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira was today speaking at Bikomero COU Birambo parish, Kamuronko Archdeaconry Kigezi Diocese, during the Thanksgiving of Mr. Dickens Murela of Kavu Maziiba subcounty, Kabale District.

She said that, as parents, it is our responsibility to guide and shape our children into responsible and respectful individuals. Therefore, the words we use in our daily interactions with them have a significant impact on their behavior and attitude. Children are highly impressionable, and the words elders use can either build them up or tear them down.

Hon. Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira stressed that the language we use towards our children should be positive and encouraging. We must refrain from using harsh or derogatory words that may cause them to lose their self-esteem and confidence. Positive words can boost their self-esteem and help them develop a positive self-image.

Moreover, children learn by example, and the words we use will shape their own communication skills. If we want our children to be respectful and kind, we must lead by example. Using polite and positive words in our interactions with them will help them learn the importance of respect and kindness.

In addition to building character and self-esteem, using positive words can also help children develop discipline.

Hon. Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira explained that when we use positive words, we are not only correcting their behavior, but we are also teaching them the value of good behavior. It is important to remember that discipline is not just about punishment but also about understanding and guiding children towards appropriate behavior.

Hon. Atwakiire said that it is undeniable that parenting is a challenging task, and there will be moments where we may lose our patience and use negative words. However, it is crucial to apologize and explain to our children why our words were not appropriate. This way, we teach them the importance of taking responsibility for our actions and apologizing when we are wrong.

Hon. Atwakiire also attended a church service at Kabanyonyi Terbanacle Church in Kafunjo Parish,Buhara SubCounty Kabale District, and Kamunyungwire Church of Uganda, Kafunjo Parish, Kamuronko Archdeaconry Kigezi Diocese, in Kyanamira Subcounty Kabale District.
