Kabale School of Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing marked a momentous occasion yesterday as 521 students, comprising 135 females and 386 males, proudly received diplomas and certificates in Nursing and Midwifery during the institution’s 8th Graduation ceremony.

The ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of State Minister of Works, Fred Byaruhanga, saw graduates being honored for their dedication and hard work. Minister Byaruhanga, an alumnus and former Guild President of Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing, conveyed congratulations to the graduates. He emphasized the importance of professionalism, integrity, and compassion in their roles as future nurses and midwives.

Addressing the graduates, Minister Byaruhanga stated, “You have chosen a profession that is full of challenges, but also full of rewards if you can maintain good conduct, showing compassion, and putting the needs of your patients first; and remember to always observe professional ethics.”

Commending the management of Kabale School of Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing, Minister Byaruhanga acknowledged the institution’s role in producing skilled professionals supporting public health facilities in the Kigezi Sub-region. He pledged to address the school’s challenges by presenting them to the cabinet for government intervention.

This commitment followed the Principal Josephine Nambiro Kigozi outlining the challenges faced by the school, mainly arising from the growing student population. Principal Kigozi appealed for additional tutors to handle the increasing number of students, as well as support for the construction of more structures to accommodate both students and staff.

Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing, a public training institution owned by the Government of Uganda, was established on September 9, 1972. Initially starting with only 40 students, the school’s enrollment has now reached 655. Offering four main courses, including Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Midwifery, Certificate in Nursing, and Certificate in Midwifery, the institution continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals in the region.
