The State Minister for Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, Hon. Henry Musasizi, has urged financially disadvantaged students to consider vocational training as a pathway to securing employment more swiftly.

Speaking on Sunday at the induction ceremony of Venerable Oscar Mwesigwa, the newly appointed Archdeacon of Bubare Archdeaconry under the Diocese of Kigezi, Hon. Musasizi, emphasized the importance of career guidance for students, particularly those facing financial challenges. The minister, who also serves as the Rubanda East County Member of Parliament and Rubanda District NRM Chairperson, encouraged parents to collaborate with teachers in guiding students towards vocational training opportunities.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to vocational education, Minister Musasizi pointed out several technical schools, including Kabale Technical Institute (KTI), equipped to provide training in essential skills such as carpentry, building, plumbing, and electrical installations. He stressed that such skills could lead to quicker job placement and contribute to improving economic conditions in students’ home areas.

During the address, Minister Musasizi commended Bubare Secondary School for its outstanding performance in the 2023 UCE Exams. He attributed the success to the political stability within Rubanda District, fostering collective responsibility among the district education department, school management authorities, teachers, students, and parents.

In a further announcement, the minister revealed that the government had allocated Shs. 150 million for the construction of a girls’ dormitory at Bubare Secondary School. Additionally, an equal amount would be allocated in the next financial year for further construction projects at the same school, demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing educational facilities.
