UTB commits to completing tourism infrastructure projects in Kapchorwa District.

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has reaffirmed its dedication to completing several crucial tourism infrastructure projects in Kapchorwa District by the end of the fiscal year 2023–24. Led by the Deputy CEO and Director of Legal Affairs of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), the UTB team has assured Kapchorwa DLG (District Local Government) that the necessary funds are available to finalize these initiatives.

Mr. Chemonges Mongea, Director of Legal Affairs at UWA, expressed gratitude to the leadership of Kapchorwa DLG for their commitment to these projects, emphasizing their significance for future generations. “This is Entandikwa for Kapchorwa DLG. You shall never be beggars again at UTB. Just improve on these and become the best tourism destination in the world,” he remarked.

He also commended the Project Implementation Committee of KDLG for their diligent oversight of the projects, stating, “You people have made me love local governments.

Deputy CEO of UTB, Mr. Bradford Ochieng, and expressed appreciation for the progress made thus far and urged the team to maintain momentum, especially before the onset of rains. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the tourism information center reflects the best artistic impression.

Mr. Ochieng also stressed the need for accountability, urging the leadership of Kapchorwa to ensure that there is value for money in the execution of these projects.

Mr. Chemonges Isaac, District Tourism Officer, thanked UTB for their financial support, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of the tourism information center. “The information center will help the district capture visitor statistics, manage tour guides and site owners, raise revenue, and create job opportunities, both directly and indirectly,” he stated.

He assured UTB of the committee’s determination to see the projects through to completion within the allocated time frame.

Ag District Engineer, Mr. Musobo Joseph, pledged immediate action regarding the maintenance of the roads, emphasizing the importance of preserving these vital infrastructures for tourism development.

With UTB’s commitment and the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved, Kapchorwa District is poised to enhance its tourism potential and establish itself as a premier destination on the global tourism map.
