Local Leaders Rally for the Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaign in Ntungamo District

Local leaders in Ntungamo District have stepped up to champion the mobilization for yellow fever vaccination. 
Addressing a district coordination meeting held at the council hall, Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Mucunguzi emphasized the pivotal role of grassroots leaders in reaching communities.
Highlighting the unique bond between local leaders and their constituents, Mucunguzi underscored the importance of leveraging this connection to promote yellow fever vaccination. 
With the campaign scheduled between April 2nd and 8th, 2024, local council chairpersons and lower council members are poised to play a crucial role in rallying community support.
Joining the call to action, Bibiana Kakinoni, the Ntungamo District Secretary for Health, commended the government’s commitment to public health initiatives. Encouraging all Ugandans to embrace the vaccination campaign, Kakinoni emphasized the collective responsibility of ensuring the well-being of the population.
Furthermore, Kakinoni urged health workers in the district to approach the vaccination drive with unwavering dedication. Recognizing the significance of their role, she stressed the need for their commitment to realizing the campaign’s objectives.
Emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts, the Ntungamo District Principal Health Educator Rolands Nahabwe reiterated the necessity for unified action towards the success of the vaccination campaign. With a diverse array of stakeholders present, including local council leaders, members of the district security team, school inspectors, and health center IVs, the meeting exemplified a community-wide commitment to public health.
The yellow fever vaccination campaign aims to reach individuals between the ages of 1 and 60, ensuring broad coverage across demographics. As the district prepares for the upcoming campaign, leaders and stakeholders alike are rallying together to promote awareness and facilitate access to life-saving vaccinations.
Through collective mobilization and community engagement, Ntungamo District is poised to achieve significant strides in safeguarding public health against the threat of yellow fever.
