Police has confirmed the death of two people in a fatal accident, a head-on collision between two vehicles along Mbarara – Lyantonde Road yesterday morning around 11 am, Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
According to the Rwizi Region Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira, the accident at Rwebitete Kiruhura involved a trailer registration number UBJ 436H/UBA 787S carrying cement and an empty milk tanker Fuso truck reg. no. UAW 901Z. Two people who died on spot have been identified as the Fuso truck driver Mohamed Kayima and his passenger Suna Mathias.
4 other people including the trailer driver identified as Kayongo Abdul and others, Mubiru Collins, Kyarutaba Victor, and Musingize Zefa were seriously injured and were rushed to Lyantonde government hospital where they’re admitted.
Police have warned road users to be careful and obey the traffic laws, attributing the accident to overspeeding and reckless driving by the Fuso truck driver
The case of the fatal accident was registered at Kiruhura Police Station under reference number TAR 40/2021
