Minister Musasizi commissions construction of 6.7 KM road in Rubanda

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development Henry Ariganyira Musasizi on Saturday launched a 629m Ugx rehabilitation of Kerere-Rwabumbe Rugyendabari Road in Rubanda district.

A 6.7km road project is aimed at site clearing, heavy grading, spot graveling, drainage works among others.

During the launch held at Kerere road site in Hamurwa sub-county Rubanda district, Hon Musasizi revealed that the project is one of the interconnectivity programs through the Ministry of Works and transport.

He said that many projects have been implemented under the interconnectivity program in the country and this is the fifth road in Rubanda district.

Hon Musasizi noted that there will be easy means of transport, goods and services, and ease of access to the health facilities in the place. He adds that this will improve the livelihood of people since the source of income is timber and other resources.

He also warned the contractor against shoddy work saying the project involves a huge amount of money, while residents deserve quality services

The Rubanda district Chairperson Ampeire Steven Kasyaba commended Hon Minister Musasizi for lobbying this project that will transform Rubanda district and benefit a lot through saving costs of those who have been carrying their resources to markets on their heads.

He called upon the contractor to do the work as per the Bills of quantities approved by the Ministry of Works and transport. He appealed to the district engineer and political leadership to do monitoring and supervision of the road per the requirements of the Local Government act.

Mugabi Achi Angel the Kethani Enterprises Limited Project Manager assured officials that he will complete the required work in the required time.

Mugabi revealed that he will work together with the Local council one chairperson to prioritize employing residents for the opportunities that will be available.

Nobert Zungu Shuti, the contract Manager Ministry of Works and transport revealed that the ministry of works and transport signed the contract with Kethan enterprises limited on 13th September 2021 worth 629,985,480Ugx million.
