Police in Rubanda have arrested one suspect for the alleged murder by assault of a 39-year-old man, James Monday, a resident of Katasa village, Kaara parish, and Muko sub-county in the Rubanda district.

It’s alleged that on April 16, 2023, at around midnight in Katasa village, unknown people assaulted the deceased on his way home from Nyanamo trading center.

He made an alarm, which attracted his family members, who, upon reaching him, found him in a critical condition while naked. He was rushed to Rugarama Hospital for treatment, where he died at around 07:20 hours.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that police were informed by the sub-county chairperson, Patrick Arinaitwe, and a team of police officers headed by OCCID Rubanda District D/ASP Bernice Aine reported at the scene of the crime and documented it.

Maate adds that a postmortem was done by a police surgeon and one suspect was arrested who has been having misunderstandings with the deceased over his second wife, Ahimbisibwe Provia. They have been in the courts of LC3 and the CDO’s office.

After the death deceased Ahimbisibwe, she reported herself to the Nyamuriro mineral police for safe custody.
