Ntungamo district is taking proactive steps to enhance services at Kyafora hot springs, a popular destination for individuals seeking the therapeutic benefits of its natural thermal waters. Nestled in the Kyafora parish of Rugarama North sub-county, the hot springs attract numerous visitors who come to enjoy the invigorating baths.

On Thursday, the district’s leadership, led by Chairperson Sam Muchunguzi, inaugurated a significant project aimed at improving sanitation facilities at the hot springs. The construction of a state-of-the-art, five-stance drainable pit latrine and a urinal, valued at 30 million shillings, was officially launched. This initiative reflects the district’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and ensuring improved accessibility to the hot springs, with an additional focus on enhancing the tourism potential of the area through road improvements.

Chairperson Muchunguzi emphasized the district’s determination to prioritize both service delivery and the well-being of locals, recognizing the importance of maintaining and promoting the hot springs as a natural attraction.

Mathias Ndifuna, the Chief Administrative Officer of Ntungamo, highlighted the critical role that the hot springs play as a valuable natural resource. He affirmed that safeguarding and enhancing the area is a top priority for the district.

Alikazi Enterprises Limited has been entrusted with the responsibility of executing the improvement works at the facility. This strategic move aligns with the district’s vision to not only elevate the quality of services at Kyafora hot springs but also to contribute positively to the broader tourism landscape in the region.

The initiative marks a pivotal moment in Ntungamo’s commitment to sustainable development and responsible tourism, as the district seeks to enhance the appeal of Kyafora hot springs for both locals and visitors alike.
