Two people were struck dead by lightning on February 2, 2024.
The incident occurred at around 17:30 a.m. in Rukofe village, Chibumba parish, Murora subcounty, Kisoro district.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the dead as Frolence Twizerimana, aged 18.resident of Rukofe village, Chibumba parish, Murora subcounty, and
Flora Nyirandabazi Flora, aged 63 is a mufumbira by tribe peasant and resident of Chibumba cell, Chibumba ward, Chahafi town council in Kisoro district.
Maate adds that it’s alleged that, on February 2, 2024, at around 1730 hrs, at Rukofe village, Chibumba parish, Murora sub-county, Kisoro district, while one Twizerimana Florence was from the market and one Nyirandabazi Flora was from the garden, as they were together at the above village along the pathway, they they were struck by lightning to death.
Their bodies were found by the bypassers, who include one Murasa Benard and one Nyiragasinda Lowin. These first respondents informed the police.
The scene was visited and documented by the district soco and a team of detectives pending a postmortem to establish the truth of the matter.
