Local health workers lead the yellow fever vaccination campaign in Ntungamo District.

Local health workers in Ntungamo District have taken the forefront in advocating for the yellow fever vaccination campaign. Addressing a district coordination meeting convened at the council hall, Bridget Kembabazi, the Assistant District Health Officer in charge of Maternal and Child Health, emphasized the crucial role of health workers in reaching out to communities.

Highlighting the close relationship between health workers and the communities they serve, Kembabazi stressed the importance of utilizing this bond to promote yellow fever vaccination. With the campaign set to commence from April 2nd to 8th, 2024, health workers, including nurses and community health extension workers, are positioned to play a pivotal role in garnering community support.

Echoing the call to action, Moses Asiimwe, a laboratory technician with Itojo Hospital, applauded the government’s dedication to public health initiatives. Urging all members of the community to participate in the vaccination campaign

Furthermore, Asiimwe called upon health workers in the district to approach the vaccination drive with unwavering commitment. Recognizing their significance, she emphasized the need for their dedication to achieving the campaign’s goals.

The yellow fever vaccination campaign targets individuals aged 1 to 60, aiming for broad coverage across demographics. As the district gears up for the impending campaign, health workers and stakeholders alike are rallying together to raise awareness and facilitate access to life-saving vaccinations.
