Kigezi Football Elder Zatwoshaho Honoured at Kabale Municipality Mp’s Football Tournament.

Organizers of the Dr, Kamara Football Tournament have paid tribute to the former Kabale District Sports Officer James Zatwoshaho for his contribution to the development of sports in Kigezi sub region.

Mzee Zatwoshaho was one of the invited guests who attended the 2022 Dr. Kamara football tournament final match between Kirigime and Kijuguta ward, at Kabale Municipal Stadium.

During the event to crown Kirigime who defeated Kijuguta ward by 1-0 as champions of this year, Kabale Municipality Mp Dr. Nicholas Kamara gave Zatwoshaho a parcel containing an unspecified amount of money before heaping praises on the former Uganda Cranes player who is now aged 95.

James Zatwoshaho also played football for the defunct Kigezi District before he was summoned to the National team during the colonial era in the 1950s.

After his retirement as Kabale District Sports officer, he received the tender to manage Kabale Municipal Stadium, and on several occasions he was seen marking the football pitch boundaries, erecting corner flags, and hanging goal post nets before he fully retired from sports activities due to old age.

Dr. Kamara described Zatwoshaho as an icon and a role model for the younger football players hailing from Kigezi region.

“Mzee Zatwoshaho is a legend, and a pillar in the sports of Kabale District and Kigezi in general. We respect and recognize his tremendous contribution to the development of sports in this region,” Kamara said.

Meanwhile the Kabale Municipality FDC leaning MP said that he decided to start the tournament in order to keep his electorate fit and healthy.

The Central division LC.5 Councilor Leopold Twesigye and LC.3 Chairperson, Sam Arineitwe commended Kamara for organizing the tournament saying that it promotes talent.

The 2022 tournament that started in September this year attracted all the 12 wards in the municipality.
