Police in kabale district have launched inquiries under which an accident involving Rubanda district local government claimed life of a 25-year-old pedestrian.
The deceased has been identified as Isaac Ainebyoona, a resident of Kabale. The incident occurred last night at around 09:00PM opposite Bank of Uganda currency centre along Kabale Kisoro road in Kabale town.
The incident occurred when a speeding Ford Ranger Double Cabin Motor vehicle registration number LG 0001-156 that was heading to Rubanda knocked Ainebyoona dead while crossing the road.
After the incident the yet to be identified driver increased the speed to take off but instead the vehicle overturned about half a Kilometre off the scene. The driver later took off.
Elly Maate, police spokesperson for Kigezi region confirms the incident saying that the deceased’s body is currently at Kabale regional referral hospital for postmortem while the wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Kabale central police station to help in investigations. The case is registered at Kabale central police station under file number TAR 29/2021
