The Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances under which a 5-year-old girl was knocked dead by a speeding bus.
According to the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate, the accident involved an Isuzu Perfect bus registration number UAS 713 U Isuzu bus driven by Kwikiriza George, 41, and a resident of Kagando cell in Buyanja sub-county Rukungiri District.
The deceased 5-year female juvenile is a resident of Buyanja town council who was crossing the main road running by the time she met her death.
Maate confirmed to our reporter that the accident occurred on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at about 7:30 am at Buyanja along with Rukungiri Ntungamo road Rukungiri District
The body has been taken to Rwakabengo health Center III pending postmortem.
Maate said that the bus involved in the accident is currently parked at Buyanja police station pending IOV inspection and the driver has been put under PF 94.
The case has been registered at Rukungiri Central under reference number TAR 76/2021.
