23 arrested as 30 motorcycles are impounded for defying curfew in Kabale

Police in Kabale has 23 suspects in detention and 30 motorcycles impounded for allegedly flouting ministry of health guidelines and Presidential directives.

According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, these suspects include the proprietors of Bombokya and T&J bars and lodges in Kigongi along Kabale-Mbarara highway were among those illegally operating, from where most of them were picked.

Maate said that these were arrested due to the fact that they were likely to spread Corona Virus.

Maate further revealed that these operations against those reckless Ugandans who fail to adhere to the lockdown restrictions will continue as we wait for the fines structure from the Secretary to the treasury.

The case of flouting ministry of health guidelines has been registered at Kabale Police Station under reference number SD 65/08/05/2021
